Correctional & Juvenile Justice Studies

Welcome to the website of the Department of Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies in the College of Justice and Safety at Eastern Kentucky University. The Department offers the following programs of study in both online and traditional classroom formats.

Undergraduate

  • Bachelor of Science (36 hour major)
  • Professional Certificate in Correctional Intervention Strategies (24 hours)
  • Professional Certificate in Youth Services (24 hours)

Graduate

  • Master of Science (30 hours)
  • Graduate Certificate in Correctional/Juvenile Justice Leadership
    • Adult Corrections Option (12 hours)
    • Juvenile Justice Option (12 hours)

These programs are designed for persons with career interests in adult corrections, juvenile justice, or related human service areas and are separate from the various Criminal Justice and Police Studies degrees offered in the College of Justice and Safety.

The rapidly expanding fields of corrections and juvenile justice offer abundant professional career opportunities, diverse types of work, and many possibilities for advancement. The Department of Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies at EKU is a unique academic program nationally devoted to these subjects.

 

The top priority of the Department of Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies is to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in the quickly expanding fields of corrections and juvenile justice.

Our students have many opportunities to work on projects with faculty members and for co-op and practicum placements; these opportunities help you develop job contacts.
